2005 Kawasaki W650
14 months ago I had the bright idea to take Kevils Speed Shop in a different direction as well as building old & new BMW Boxers, the plan was to build more affordable Japanese bikes based on tried and tested popular models!
So now we’re up to MOTO #18; a 2005 Kawasaki w650 Bratstyle!
This particular bike was a part ex into my local main dealers and came from a lady owner who covered 10,000 miles in its Life, luckily an insider from the dealer tipped me off that it was coming in, these bikes are thin on the ground especially low mileage ones!
The theme was a very Cool clean California “So Cal” Style so we set about re designing and refabricating the rear subframe for a more minimal look! The original frame work does go in all directions, to lose the side panels, fabricating an integral under seat box that contains the battery and wiring. We also swapped the tank for a 100cc kwaker tank from the 1970s, the old Skool blacked out spoke wheels and firestone type tyres ads a great contrast against the cream frame for a very clean look! We completely stripped the bike and rebuilt it from the ground up soda blasting the engine and swapping all the worn parts out for new!
When the tank came back from the paint shop satin black with twin cream stripes to Match the frame it really didn’t do it for me so I added some period Volkswagen orange paint and a scotch pad to give it that Aged to Perfection patina vintaged style!
So if any ones interested in commissioning a similar sweet ride please get in touch! Delivery can be arranged, Please message for more information!
The bike was on display in the custom zone at the MCN london motorcycle show mid Feb 2017! and gained a lot of attention for its individual character,
