From Workshop to Kitchen: The Kevil’s Story Continues

The story of Kevils Kitchen is one of brilliant transformation. It begins not with an apron and whisk, but with welding torches and custom chrome. For years, the Paignton location was home to Kevils Speed Shop, where Kevin Hill earned a legendary reputation for building hundreds of iconic custom motorcycles. The space was a dedicated workshop, a hub of noise, oil, and creative engineering.

But as tastes—and passions—evolved, Kevin embarked on his most unique build yet: transforming his beloved garage into a fully operational, high-quality café. The result is a seamless continuation of the Kevils story, proving that whether you’re crafting a custom bike or a perfect burger, dedication to quality makes all the difference.

The Transformation: Engineering Excellence Applied to Food

The cafe retains the authentic, industrial soul of the workshop. The Motorbike-themed atmosphere is genuine, built into the very structure of the building. This authenticity is a huge draw, but the new heart of the operation is the kitchen, where engineering excellence has been swapped for culinary precision.

Kevils Kitchen applies the same uncompromising standard that built custom bikes to its menu, focusing on proper, hot meals and quality ingredients:

  • Prime Meats and Freshness: The Classic Kevils Smashed Burger features 100g of fresh Prime Minced Steak. Their hot dogs use Prime Butchers Pork Sausages. This commitment to quality meats ensures everything tastes fantastic.

  • Hearty Portions: The portions are designed to fuel a long ride. The Full Kevinglish Breakfast (£10.00) is a testament to this, covering a plate with two sausages, two bacon, two eggs, and all the trimmings.

  • The Signature Baps: Items like the Kevils Monty (£8.00) and The Bikers Brekky (£5.50) are custom-built, generous meals that you can hold in your hand—a perfect example of function meeting flavour.

The Legacy Continues

Kevils Kitchen is more than just a novelty cafe; it’s a living museum of custom culture that now serves delicious food. The ethos remains the same: craftsmanship, attention to detail, and community. It has become a premier social hub in Torbay, where riders gather, and foodies inside enjoy high-value, satisfying meals.

The journey from Workshop to Kitchen has cemented Kevils as a unique destination in Devon, proving that the best stories—and the best food—are often found where you least expect them.
