The Story
The new breed of boxers to be customised by Kevils Speed Shop!
BMW Motorrad sat up and took notice of the new wave custom scene and decided to produce a cool new street bike thats just begging to be personalised either by their owners or recognised companies such as ours, having given these bikes to the likes of ‘urban motors Berlin’ and the the guys from the Basque region of Spain known only as ‘Elsolitero’ plus the famous Roland sands to put their own mark on then came our turn; the UK’s leading custom BMW builder ‘Kevils Speed Shop’ to stamp our mark on the RnineT.
Old skool hod rod ,rat rod was the chosen theme, giving a brand new bike a custom rat rod make over that would certainly get people talking whether they love it or hate it, either way it’s a motoring statement that will stand out in a crowd where ever it goes!
Not wanting to re invent what the BMW design team had already created we decided to just make it old skool cool, taking away the Henry Ford ethos “any colour as long as it’s black,” giving it some patina and hand painted pin striping we wanted to create a beefy street tracker using our skills in alloy fabrication and application of colours blacking out the forks and pegs and changing the wheel rim colour to a classic old English white and adding those Continental TKC tracker tyres. Striper Nefarious took care of the Pinstriping and the retro lettering. We also Recovered the seat in diamond stitched leather as well as keeping the pillion carrying capacity; a must if you want to keep the other half happy!
Bringing the headlight closer in and blending it with the new Moto scope pro, a all in one pod, containing a led halo headlamp was made, along with our shorter alloy mudguard and brace and Lower wide handlebars, bar end motogadget led indicators and bar end mirrors give the bike a more aggressive stance.
The polar bear friendly exup-type valve and catalytic converter have been replaced by a set of Remus headers and cannon of a muffler, liberated from some metric cruiser and purchased from an auto jumble for £7.50! But boy does it look the part!
The air box and scoop have now gone and have been replaced with K&N style filters and a filler panel for the tank was made, this gives balance to the tank and a minimal look,which we like to see through all our builds.
